SM 30s first day on the hill


This is one of our SM30s on the hill for the first time this season, the guys got some good early season runs runs in but we are in need of some more snow, fingers crossed.

First snow 15\15\07

First snow fell today from around 5 am this morning and pretty much snowed all day lightly. The NSA headqurters is coming along fine, with a finish date in around 2 weeks we should be out sledding soon if the snow keeps up.

OHARA SM 30

This is one of our Ohara sm30's about to receive a make over from the panel shop. These little cats are pretty amazing with capicity to carry 8 people in heated comfort and climb up to 40'. This sm30 is eqiuped with deep snow lugs which is perfect for the Niseko region. We will be using this cat and simalar one's for our family snowcat adventures.

All our cats will be eqiuped with snowshoes and kiddie tobbagans for the family snowcat adventures.

Avalanche course 17th &18th Dec. Hirafu

Hi Everyone.


We will be running a CAA rec basic avalanche course
This two day course developed by the Canadian Avalanche Association standards will teach you the basics of safe travel in the backcountry, allow you to recognize avalanche terrain and make more informed slope stability evaluations. You will learn proper self-rescue and group management techniques for the backcountry.

Course date: 17th and the 18th of December

Cost: ¥21,000 plus tax (backcountry insurance an additional ¥2000)

Location: Hirafu

Includes. Textbook, two full days of instruction, one class day one field day (equipment rentals separate)

What to bring. Winter clothing for all conditions, warm hat or knit cap, goggles, gloves, skis, or board equipment, snowshoes or skins and climbing system, pack with shovel, probe, extra hat/gloves/vest, water, lunch and of course Avalanche Transceiver. Equipment sales at discounted prices for course students.

NSA building under construction

Scott , Erica, Hannah, Bear and Rusty Bowman have purchased 1600 tsubo at Kanbetsu Trailhead where they plan on building a home in the future.

As of this season Niseko Snowmobile Adventures will operate from our newly renovated sledshed at the Kanbetsu trailhead. Based at the foothills giving us direct access to without question some of the best sledding terrain in Hokkaido . With in-slab heating through out, his and hers change rooms, hot drinks and comfy lounges for customers to enjoy. Customers can relax and enjoy fantastic veiws of Yotei before and after tours. We are really excited about the coming winter.

Gearing up...

Here at NSA we are gearing up for another winter season, the word around town is that this season 07/08 looks like it's going to be a biggie... is this just wishful thinking or a delightful fact? I guess we'll know soon enough
